Job summary

Archer is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) Manager in San Jose, CA to lead the Electric Motor/Drive Unit manufacturing team. You will own the specification, design, launch and ramp of advanced powertrain manufacturing equipment in a high-volume production environment.

You will supervise the team, manage capex from RFQ to ramp, and partner on DFM feedback with design and manufacturing engineering to optimize automated assembly.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering with 2+ years of technical management and 5+ years in high-volume automated manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale the MDE team for Electric Motor/Drive Unit production lines, including hiring and development.
• Own end-to-end equipment execution from RFQ to ramp up, managing capex budgets and approvals.
• Drive DFM feedback into early-stage designs and optimize for automated assembly.
• Lead relationships with equipment builders and automation suppliers with Global Supply Chain.
• Present program status, capital spend forecasts, and capacity models to executives.
• Ensure equipment meets throughput, yield, and OEE targets for delivery schedules.
