Job summary

KLA is seeking a research engineer to design and develop complex vacuum-mechanical subsystems for semiconductor equipment. You will translate requirements into detailed designs, create CAD models, drawings, and BOMs, and ensure fit, form, and function through GD&T and tolerance analysis.

You'll work with cross-functional teams to address contamination, reliability, and processability issues while supporting prototype builds and production integration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience or bachelor's with 5+ years.
• Knowledge of vacuum-system design principles and materials.
• Strong GD&T and tolerance analysis skills.
• Experience with semiconductor capital equipment preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical subsystems and vacuum hardware.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and interface docs.
• Apply GD&T; perform tolerance stack-up analyses.
• Plan feasibility studies, prototype tests, and verification.
• Provide hands-on support during integration and production.
