Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL seeks an experienced cost estimator to lead pricing and cost volume development for spaceflight systems. You will collaborate with estimators and pricing professionals to support the entire proposal lifecycle and ensure accurate, well-supported estimates for bid opportunities.

The role requires strong FAR/DFARS knowledge, 8+ years of experience, and the ability to mentor others while advancing estimating practices within a fast-moving aerospace team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with strong cost estimating background.
• 8+ years of experience in estimating, pricing, and cost management.
• Proficiency with FAR/DFARS and related government regulations.
• Ability to read RFP/SOW and related cost documents.
• Advanced skills in cost-competitive, well-supported estimates and proformas.
• Desire to lead process improvements and mentor others.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; team player.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, develop, review, and present cost estimates per requirements.
• Support proposal activities for commercial and government customers.
• Develop costs for Internal R&D efforts.
• Prepare cost estimates across product lines: liquid rocket propulsion, launch services, lunar and in-space applications.
• Conduct concurrent estimating with multiple stakeholders and scope magnitudes.
• Write Basis of Estimate narratives to document methods.
• Collaborate with cost professionals to deliver high-quality estimates.
• Advance estimating practices and processes as Blue Origin grows.
