Job summary

ExcelliSearch, Inc. in East San Diego County, CA is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead its estimating group for underground utilities and heavy civil projects.

This on-site, direct-hire role will manage a team of 3–5 estimators, drive bid strategy, and price competitive bids for major utility and public-owner projects. You will build production estimates, perform take-offs, and mentor the team to deliver accurate bids while coordinating with Operations on hand-off and change orders.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive estimating experience in underground utility or heavy civil construction.
• Experience bidding public works and utility-owner projects with prevailing wage and DIR compliance.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team of estimators.
• Proficiency with B2W, Accubid or HCSS (HCSS HeavyBid preferred).
• P6 and MS Project, plus strong Excel and MS Office tools.
• Sage 300/Timberline and/or Sage Paperless preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and review a team of 3–5 estimators.
• Build production-based estimates for large underground utility and civil projects.
• Prepare competitive bids for public agencies and utility owners.
• Analyze RFPs, scopes, plans, specs; perform take-offs and bid schedules.
• Lead pre-bid meetings and bid strategy sessions.
• Define sub/supplier scopes and pricing; maintain pricing database.
• Review final estimates with Operations and obtain approvals.
