Job summary

Confidential Search in East San Diego County, CA seeks a Senior Estimator to run its estimating group on underground utilities and heavy civil projects. You’ll lead 3–5 estimators, own the numbers, and drive competitive bids for major utility owners and public agencies.

You will mentor the team, build large-scale estimates, analyze bids, and contribute to strategic bid development while coordinating with operations and field teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of estimating experience in underground utility or heavy civil construction.
• Experience bidding large-scale utility infrastructure and public works with prevailing wage/DIR.
• Proven leadership of a team of estimators.
• Strong MS Office skills and estimating software proficiency.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance or Construction Management preferred.
• Able to commute daily to East San Diego County office.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor and review the work of a 3–5 estimator team.
• Build production-based estimates for large underground utility and civil projects.
• Prepare competitive hard bids for public agencies and utility owners.
• Analyze RFPs, scopes, plans and specs; conduct detailed take-offs.
• Lead pre-bid meetings, bid strategy sessions and site visits.
• Define sub and supplier scopes and maintain pricing databases.
• Review final estimates with Operations and submit bid packages.
• Support project managers with hand-off, scheduling and change orders.
