Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare budgets and estimates for mid-to-large projects. You’ll analyze drawings, perform material take-offs, and price using unit costs, working with senior leadership to finalize FEBs and present bids to executives.

You will generate reports, translate data for reviews, and mentor less-experienced estimators while staying current with best practices in estimation software and construction costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in CM/Engineering or equivalent combo of training/experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant estimator experience, including people management.
• Strong communication, analytical, and cost data interpretation skills.
• Ability to read specs and drawings and translate into estimates.
• Proficiency with Excel/Word and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed estimates for mid-to-large projects.
• Perform material take-offs and price using unit costs; discuss issues with manager.
• Collaborate with Lead/Chief Estimator to finalize FEB and present bids.
• Generate reports and transfer data into final review formats for FEB.
• Train and mentor less-experienced estimators.
