Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced Estimator Leader to drive the estimating function for large, complex projects. You will assemble materials, pre-qualify sub-contractors, and support the Chief Estimator with detailed budgets and client presentations.

You’ll manage resources, set timelines, and mentor team members while aligning work with industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred, or trade school or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience, including 3 years’ people and project management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and analytical ability.
• Strong people-management and presentation skills.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to interpret plans and specs.
• Proficient in Excel/Word and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Leads estimating function for varied projects across multiple business units.
• Determines materials and pre-qualifies proposals for estimates.
• Assists Chief Estimator with presentations, studies, and budget reports.
• Develops deliverables, timelines, resources, and tracks progress with stakeholders.
• Delegates work, provides feedback, and coaches team members.
• Oversees red-lining and negotiates with vendors as needed.
• Implements industry standards and stays current with best practices.
