Job summary

Michels Corporation seeks a Senior Estimator to lead large-scale, mission-critical estimating efforts for hyperscale data center projects. You will evaluate opportunities, bid specs, drawings, schedules, and client requirements to deliver competitive proposals and accurate cost estimates.

Responsibilities include securing vendor pricing, developing budgets and forecasts, and collaborating with procurement, operations, and leadership to ensure successful turnovers after award.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 6-10 years of related estimating, construction, engineering, or project operations experience.
• Experience estimating large-scale mission-critical, hyperscale data center, heavy civil, utility, power, EPC, infrastructure, or complex construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, bid packages, schedules, contracts, and project requirements to develop complete and accurate estimates.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs, budgets, forecasts, and competitive bid proposals.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor pricing and subcontractor quotations.
• Develop and maintain strong subcontractor and supplier relationships.
• Negotiation experience with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Develop project schedules, production assumptions, and project forecasts.
• Understand budgets, cost tracking, estimate accuracy, and historical performance.
• Support turnovers and communicate risks and strategies to operations teams.
• Proficiency with Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience with estimating software, takeoff platforms, and preconstruction tools.
• Experience with HCSS, B2W, HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, MS Project is preferred.
• Previous project management experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple pursuits with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts for hyperscale data center and mission-critical projects.
• Review bid specifications, drawings, schedules, contracts, and owner requirements to capture and quantify scope.
• Prepare material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates.
• Coordinate with procurement for vendor pricing and buyout strategies.
• Develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for timely bid participation.
• Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, opportunities, and constructability considerations.
• Support turnover by communicating estimate assumptions, risks, budgets, and bid strategies to project teams.
