Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Estimator to develop and coordinate large, multi-discipline infrastructure cost estimates and construction schedules. You will lead a team of estimators and coordinate across hydropower, water, and mechanical projects worldwide, with travel to project sites as needed.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration with estimating groups, and delivering competitive, defensible estimates for major water infrastructure programs.

Qualifications

• Extensive technical knowledge of cost/estimating, construction practice, and engineering design.
• Experience estimating hydropower, water, wastewater, or heavy mechanical infrastructure projects.
• Estimating expertise in Hydroelectric facilities, Water treatment plants, Wastewater treatment plants, Pump stations, Dams and water control structures.
• Advanced understanding of different contract methods and how they apply to estimating.
• Experience with one or more estimating platforms (InEight Estimate, Sage Timberline Estimating, On-Screen Take-Off, MCASES MII, IPE, HCSS).
• Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Willing to travel domestically and some international travel.
• Experience working with other discipline estimators to develop a comprehensive project estimate.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present cost estimating projects.
• Ability to solve complex problems using professional judgement and innovation.
• Ability to mentor team members in engineering and construction estimating techniques.
• Strong client-facing skills and experience as estimating interface for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the development of multidisciplinary cost estimates and construction schedules.
• Develop detailed estimates for water treatment processes, pumping systems, and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate input parameters for estimates and schedules and validate quantities.
• Prepare estimate execution plans and labor-force work plans for estimating activities.
• Coordinate and compile information from all estimating disciplines into one cost estimate.
• Provide support for procurement, change and claims valuation and negotiations.
• Prepare construction logistics plans and constructability reviews.
• Serve as primary cost estimating contact for clients and stakeholders.
• Maintain awareness of industry trends and apply lessons learned to improve estimate quality.
