MDS Staffing is seeking a Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to join our team in the Houston, TX area, focusing on industrial EPC and data center construction.

The role emphasizes piping and mechanical systems within large-scale projects across chemical, petrochemical, and oil & gas sectors. The Senior Estimator will develop accurate, competitive cost estimates, interpret drawings and specifications, and collaborate across management, engineering, and construction teams to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years estimating experience in industrial construction, focused on mechanical/piping scopes.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical scopes with emphasis on piping/mechanical systems.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Excel.
• Review drawings, specs, and scope documents for accuracy and completeness of estimates.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies.
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals.
• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project.
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes ensuring alignment with scope and standards.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoffs.
