Job summary

KLA Industries, Inc. in Channelview, TX is seeking a Senior Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to lead cost estimation for large-scale industrial EPC and data center projects in the Houston area.

This on-site role requires deep knowledge of construction methods, takeoffs, and cost control. The estimator will prepare detailed estimates, perform quantity takeoffs, review drawings, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and develop pricing for various contract types while supporting bid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction.
• Experience estimating civil, structural, and mechanical scopes.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings.
• Experience with EPC or design-build delivery models preferred.
• Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.

Location: Channelview, TX

Fully onsite. 40-45 hours week M - F. Minimal travel.

About this Role

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to join our team in Houston, TX to support a growing portfolio of large-scale construction projects, primarily within the rapidly expanding data center market. Additional projects span the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, and other heavy industrial sectors.

The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls.

What You'll Do

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systems
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel
• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimates
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals
• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project scope and estimating standards
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities
• Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoff meetings
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. OR 10 years experience in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction, with a strong focus on mechanical/piping scopes
• Strong working knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers
• Advanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plans
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience supporting EPC or design-build project delivery models, preferred
• Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.
