Job summary

MDS Staffing seeks an experienced Sr. Electrical Estimator for industrial EPC and data center construction in Houston, TX. Fully onsite, this role supports large-scale projects nationwide, collaborating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to develop accurate, competitive estimates.

You will review drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, evaluate bids, and prepare proposal documentation. A strong electrical construction background and proficiency with Excel and estimating software

Qualifications

• Experience estimating electrical construction in industrial, commercial, EPC, or mission-critical projects.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of electrical materials, installation methods, and labor requirements.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, and subcontractor bid evaluations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Bluebeam, McCormick, Accubid, or similar estimating software preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical and instrumentation estimates for complex construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams throughout the bidding process.
• Analyze labor productivity, material pricing, and project-specific cost considerations.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkdowns.
• Develop proposal documentation and final bid packages.
• Maintain historical cost data and support improvements in estimating accuracy.
