Job summary

Sora Resource Group is seeking a Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) for major industrial EPC and data center projects in the Houston region. The role emphasizes detailed cost estimation, takeoffs, and collaboration with mechanical, civil, and structural teams.

You will leverage Trimble Accubid and Excel to develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and T&M proposals, while supporting bid reviews and post‑bid handoffs. Minimal travel and fully onsite work are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction with emphasis on mechanical/piping scopes.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers.
• Advanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings and structural plans.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience supporting EPC or design-build project delivery models preferred.
• Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.

• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project.
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes to align with scope and standards.
• Identify risks, exclusions, and value‑engineering opportunities.
• Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post‑bid handoffs.
• Maintain estimating databases and productivity benchmarks.

About this Role

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to join our team in Houston, TX to support a growing portfolio of large-scale construction projects, primarily within the rapidly expanding data center market. Additional projects span the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, and other heavy industrial sectors.

The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls.

What You'll Do

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systems
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel
• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimates
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies
