Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Austin is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare detailed project estimates based on construction drawings and specifications. You will manage bid packages for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts, lead document control, and coordinate with trade partners and design teams to ensure accurate scopes and timely bids.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years in construction estimating, with strong reading of contract documents and proficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
• Knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents
• Conceptual ability, able to work with minimum information and quickly develop understanding of owner/architect requirements
• Project management of competing demands, and meet established deadlines
• Familiar with operating procedures and methods of other departments – Procurement, Operations
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications, and familiar with estimating software
• Limited travel

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimate including quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate input, and studies for items in assigned scope
• Prepare and assemble bids and proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts
• Lead document management for project and distribute to stakeholders
• Act as liaison with trade partners, design team, and client
• Support constructability reviews through communication with project team and designers
• Develop value analysis studies for cost-efficient alternatives
• Understand trade package scope factors including contract documents, site logistics, schedule, coordination
• Prepare scope requisitions for assigned trades and eliminate scope gaps
