Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Memphis, TN is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare detailed project estimates from drawings and specs, and to communicate bids and scopes of work. Reports to Lead Estimator or Preconstruction Manager.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related construction estimating experience, proficiency with MS Office and estimating software, and the ability to coordinate with designers, trade partners, and the project team. Limited travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes and project schedule.
• Conceptual ability to work with limited information and quickly understand owner/architect requirements.
• Project management of competing demands and meeting deadlines.
• Familiar with procurement and operations procedures.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Limited travel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimate including quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate input and studies for items in assigned scope.
• Prepare bids and proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts.
• Lead document management for the project and distribute to stakeholders.
• Serve as liaison with trade partners, design team and client; manage trade partners and information.
• Support constructability reviews with project team, designers and trade partners.
• Develop value analysis studies and cost-efficient alternatives.
• Understand factors required for trade package scope including documents, site logistics, schedule, means and methods.
• Prepare scope requisitions for assigned trades and identify gaps/overlaps.
• Prepare comparison analyses to previous estimates.
• Evaluate trade partner proposals and participate in Post Bid Review.
• Manage Post Bid action items and finalize scope; recommend bid awards.
• Supervise Assistant Estimators and Estimating Interns.
• Other duties as assigned.
