Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Estimator to prepare estimates for commercial projects and share responsibility for cost accuracy with the project team. You will assist other estimators and managers in all types of estimating tasks.

This role requires reading contract documents, performing quantity take-offs, and soliciting bids from subcontractors and suppliers, while preparing bid proposals and outline schedules for proposed projects.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years estimating commercial construction projects with hard-bid, design-build and conceptual methods.
• Proficient in Timberline, Excel and Word; basic knowledge of AutoCAD or Primavera preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specs, addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates pricing information with subs and suppliers.
• Prepares estimate formats for general conditions, bid analysis and related areas.
• Assists with bid proposal preparation and outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Supports staff on special projects related to estimating.
