Job summary

McKinsey & Company is seeking a capable Capital Analytics professional to prepare detailed cost estimates, forecast budgets, and build analytical tools for major capital projects. You will develop cost models, drive portfolio optimization, and present insights to client leadership. The role emphasizes data-driven analysis, benchmarking, and actionable recommendations.

You will join our Capital Analytics Client Capabilities Network in multiple U.S. office locations, with travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience on major capital projects in project management or controls.
3+ years of hands-on experience with construction estimating software for large projects.
Experience in consulting, strategic planning, or research is an advantage.
Proficiency with ACCE is highly preferred.
Familiarity with other estimating tools listed in the postings.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates and budget forecasts for major capital projects.
Build and scale analytical tools focused on portfolio optimization and cost/schedule diagnostics.
Develop construction cost models and proprietary solutions for large projects.
Engage with client teams, test hypotheses, and present actionable recommendations.
Create benchmarking databases, cost models, and market perspectives.
