Job summary

McKinsey & Company in the United States seeks a Capital Analytics professional to prepare detailed cost estimates and build analytic tools for major capital projects. You will engage with client teams, test hypotheses, develop actionable recommendations, and deliver benchmarking models, schedules, and executive presentations.

Based in multiple cities (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Washington, DC), this role offers world-class training, mentorship, and broad exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or related field
• 3+ years of experience working on major capital projects for an owner or contractor
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with construction estimating software for large-scale capital projects
• Experience in consulting, strategic planning, or research is a plus
• Proficiency with ACCE is highly preferred
• Knowledge of additional estimating tools (e.g., Cleopatra, ProEst, Sage, InEight, Trimble, etc.) is advantageous
• Advanced Excel modeling and data management skills
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication abilities
• Leadership experience and initiative in professional or academic settings
• Willingness to travel up to 50%
• Excellent verbal and written communication for translating complex data into insights

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budget forecasts for major capital projects
• Build and scale analytical tools for portfolio optimization and cost/schedule diagnostics
• Develop construction cost models and proprietary solutions for large-scale projects
• Engage with client teams to gather data, test hypotheses, and present findings
• Create benchmarking databases, cost models, and market perspectives
• Contribute to the firm's capital analytics capabilities and methodologies
• Receive ongoing training and mentorship while delivering client impact
