Job summary

McKinsey & Company is seeking a capital analytics professional to prepare detailed cost estimates and build analytical tools for major capital projects. You will engage with client teams, develop cost models, and contribute to benchmarking and market perspectives.

You will grow through mentorship, training, and exposure to a global practice, while delivering actionable insights and presentations for leadership across industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience working on major capital projects for either an owner or contractor, ideally within project management or project controls.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with construction estimating software for large-scale capital projects.
• Experience in consulting, strategic planning, or research is a plus.
• Proficiency with ACCE is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with multiple estimating tools is an asset.
• Advanced Excel modeling and data management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budget forecasts for major capital projects.
• Build and scale analytical tools for portfolio optimization and cost/schedule diagnostics.
• Develop construction cost models and proprietary solutions for large-scale projects.
• Engage with client teams to gather data, test hypotheses, and present actionable recommendations.
• Create benchmarking databases, cost models, and market perspectives.
• Contribute to firm knowledge through analytics and insights for capital projects.
• Learn and grow through training and mentorship while delivering client results.
• Embed capital analytics practices across engagements and service lines.
