Job summary

Granite Construction seeks an experienced estimating leader to develop bid opportunities and manage a team responsible for producing quality estimates on projects up to $50 million. The role emphasizes strategic bid development, contract negotiation support, and leadership within the estimating department.

The candidate should bring 10+ years in estimating, 5+ years in a managerial role, and a strong background in earthwork, concrete, utilities, and paving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 10+ years of estimating experience.
• 5+ years of management experience.
• Experience in earthwork, concrete, utilities, paving, structures.
• Proficiency in MS Office, BIDS 2, AGTEK, and Primavera.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review estimates and lead bid reviews with senior management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Develop and maintain business relationships to increase bid opportunities in the local market.
• Manage and administer estimating department functions including budgets, staffing, wage reviews, and work assignments.
• Provide input to determine project bid types, pursue strategies, and ensure competitive pricing.
• Track material types and costs, construction methods, and historical costs for realistic estimates.
• Develop bid strategies and best practices for securing core business and new opportunities.
• Supervise and mentor estimating staff to meet Granite standards.
• Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase bid competitiveness.
