Job summary

The Bowers Group, a Legence company, is seeking an experienced Sr. Estimator to support mechanical and plumbing construction projects from concept through bid submission. This onsite role is based in Beltsville, MD and may be union or non union.

You will prepare detailed estimates, analyze drawings and specifications, and coordinate with operations, vendors, and clients to ensure accurate, timely bids. 7am-5pm hours, hourly pay in a range that reflects experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating experience in mechanical and/or plumbing construction.
• Proficiency with Quote Express, AutoBid/AutoBid Pro (or AutoBid Visual) and MS Office.
• Ability to read and interpret MEP specifications and construction drawings.
• US work authorization; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate mechanical and/or plumbing estimates for commercial and industrial projects.
• Analyze drawings and bid documents to develop complete scopes of work.

Job Summary:

The Bowers Group, a Legence company, is seeking an experienced Sr. Estimator to support mechanical and plumbing construction projects from concept through bid submission. This position is responsible for developing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates while partnering closely with operations, project management, vendors, and clients.

This position works onsite daily in Beltsville, MD and may be union or non union.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed and accurate mechanical and/or plumbing estimates for commercial and industrial projects
• Analyze drawings, MEP specifications, and bid documents to develop complete scopes of work
• Utilize estimating software (Quote Express, AutoBid/AutoBid Pro, or similar platforms) to generate pricing
• Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Identify constructability issues, scope gaps, and potential cost risks
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams during preconstruction
• Participate in bid reviews, value engineering efforts, and proposal preparation
• Maintain historical cost data and lessons learned to improve estimating accuracy
• Provide post bid support and assist with project handoff

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of estimating experience in mechanical and/or plumbing construction
• Strong proficiency with Quote Express, AutoBid/AutoBid Pro (or AutoBid Visual), and MS Office Suite
• Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting MEP specifications and construction drawings
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• U.S. work authorization required, no visa sponsorship available
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service experience with internal and external partners
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team based environment
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience estimating design assist projects
• Field experience in mechanical or plumbing construction
• Experience with scheduling, takeoffs, and cost databases
• Ability to mentor junior estimators

Additional Information:

• Onsite position based in Beltsville, MD
• Typical working hours for this role are 7am – 5pm
• Hourly rate: $67.00 - $81.00
• There is no visa sponsorship available for this position.
