Job summary

Stony Brook University in New York is seeking a Senior Programmer/Analyst to provide IT services supporting Finance/Budget, Student Information Systems, and Human Resources. You will analyze business requirements, design and develop applications, build reports, and manage data interfaces while ensuring security and privacy.

The role includes mentoring junior staff, leading ERP enhancements, and documenting workflows. Hybrid work with potential remote days is available and expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or eight years of directly related full-time experience.
• Four years of full-time, relevant software development experience.
• Experience with object-oriented languages and SQL.
• Knowledge of software development practices.
• Experience translating functional business requirements into technical specifications.
• Experience developing data integrations and reports.
• Experience reviewing and improving programs formulated by more junior staff.
• Experience developing nonstandard program design and logic features.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT services supporting Finance/Budget, Student Information Systems and HR.
• Design, build, and maintain ERP applications and integrations; gather requirements, analyze, code, test, document, and maintain.
• Mentor junior staff; potentially act as Supervising Programmer Analyst.
• Document applications, reports, and interfaces; manage tasks and issues using JIRA or similar tools.
• Ensure data security and privacy; advise management on breaches and policy compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support department mission.
