Job summary

New River Electrical Corporation seeks a Senior Risk Manager to lead the Risk and Insurance function. You will own the ERM program, guide the team, and coordinate with senior leadership on risk strategy and insurance, surety, and claims management.

The role may be based in Strongsville or Granville, Ohio, and requires substantial collaboration with finance, operations, safety, HR, and legal. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in risk management, insurance, finance, business, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive risk management, insurance, or claims experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Professional designation preferred: ARM, CPCU, CRM, or similar.
• Experience building or managing risk programs; familiarity with COSO ERM and ISO 31000 is a plus.
• Experience with commercial insurance programs, renewals, certificates of insurance, and surety/bonding processes.
• Experience overseeing claims management, including workers’ compensation.
• Experience reviewing contract risk-allocation provisions, including insurance, indemnification, and liability terms.
• Captive insurance experience (feasibility, formation, or captive management) preferred.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with senior management and external stakeholders.
• High ethical standards and professional integrity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and RMIS or comparable platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the Company’s Enterprise Risk Management program, including risk identification, assessment, prioritization, mitigation planning, monitoring, and reporting to senior leadership.
• Establish and maintain a risk register and drive a consistent, organization-wide approach to risk management.
• Partner with leadership across finance, operations, safety, HR, and legal to embed risk management into business planning.
• Prepare and deliver ERM reporting to executive leadership and the board as directed.
• Lead captive insurance company feasibility study and coordinate with actuaries, captive managers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
• Evaluate alternative risk-financing structures and retention strategies.
• Own and administer the Company’s insurance program across property, GL, auto, workers’ comp, professional/pollution, cyber, and excess coverages.
• Direct the annual insurance renewal process, including data collection and coverage placement.
• Oversee the certificate of insurance process and surety/bonding program.
• Oversee claims across all lines, including intake, reserve monitoring, and coordination with carriers and third-party administrators.
• Assist with claims management and coordination with outside counsel.
• Assist with safety, labor, and employment matters as needed.
• Oversee contract risk review and coordination with Legal on positions.
• Answer and manage customer risk assessments and vendor qualifications.
• Draft risk-related documents and policies; support training content with Legal/Compliance.
• Support compliance program administration and risk reporting.
• Conduct research on statutes and industry standards relevant to risk exposures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Directly supervise the Risk and Insurance team and set priorities, coaching, and performance reviews.
