Job summary

The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies seeks a Director of Risk Management to lead the enterprise-wide risk program and elevate risk strategy across multiple business lines. This senior role reports to the Chief Risk Officer and oversees insurance programs, captive operations, claims management, and ERM/ESG initiatives.

You will mentor a small risk team, influence senior leaders, and shape risk governance, policies, and financial forecasting to protect assets and drive sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in risk management, claims, loss control, insurance, and financial management.
• Experience with captive insurance administration (required).

Responsibilities

• Lead the placement, structure, and ongoing management of complex property & casualty insurance programs (D&O/E&O, Cyber, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime, WC).
• Oversee claims management, ensuring effective resolution and cost control.
• Manage a single-parent captive insurance program domiciled in Vermont; collaborate with brokers and captive managers.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and enterprise risk analysis; identify exposures and mitigation strategies.
• Support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and ESG initiatives.
• Develop strategies for collateral recovery to strengthen financial outcomes.
• Provide risk-related financial forecasting and support strategic decision-making.
• Participate in group P&L reviews, analyzing trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Advise leadership on insurance market conditions, coverage optimization, and cost containment.
• Develop, implement, and maintain risk management policies and procedures; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Act as a member of the Cyber Security Incident Response Team and ESG committee.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the risk management team; supervise hiring and performance management.
