Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking an Equipment Operator III in Wastewater Collection to operate jetvacs and sewer video trucks, perform routine maintenance, and respond to emergencies. A valid Louisiana Class B CDL is required, with potential for higher endorsements depending on assignment.

Two years of heavy equipment experience and a high school diploma or GED are required. The role includes on-call responsibilities and advancement opportunities within Utilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience operating heavy equipment used in road maintenance/utility infrastructure.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class B commercial driver's license; Louisiana-specific endorsements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Operates combination sewer cleaning trucks (jetvacs) and sewer video trucks, driving and maneuvering equipment and unclogging pipes.
• Prepares equipment for safe operation; performs light maintenance and cleans vehicles after assignments.
• Responds to emergencies during inclement weather or other incidents.
• Communicates with supervisor and others to coordinate work and resolve issues.
