The City of Alexandria is seeking professional individuals to begin a career in the Wastewater Department, located in the heart of Central Louisiana,to perform skilled labor of a physically demanding nature in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water, wastewater, or gas distribution systems. Positions in Utilities are subject to 24-hour call. Responds to emergency calls during inclement weather or other emergencies.
High School diploma or GED. Two (2) years progressively responsible experience in the construction, repair, and/or maintenance of pipelines, preferably in a utility system; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver’s license.Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at the time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.Must be able to obtain a valid State of Louisiana Class D driver’s license within one month of hire.
Wastewater Department may be required to obtain and maintain a valid Louisiana Class A or B commercial driver’s license and prefers a valid Wastewater Collection Class II Certification.
