Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a Senior Equipment Operator to maintain state roadway systems. This role requires operating a variety of heavy equipment and performing routine maintenance while coordinating crew activities.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Class A CDL and two years of equipment operation experience, with duties including temporary traffic control and field carpentry tasks.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience operating small/medium equipment and vehicles.
• Valid Class A CDL required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicles and large equipment for roadway and bridge maintenance.
• Perform minor maintenance and servicing on equipment; check fluids and brakes.
• Coordinate and direct maintenance activities of the crew; plan workloads and deadlines.
• Maintain daily paperwork, crew activity reports, and vehicle checklists.
• Perform Temporary Traffic Control and assist in carpentry, masonry, painting tasks.
