Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation Brooksville Operations is seeking an Equipment Operator to operate and maintain a range of heavy and medium equipment on highway and bridge projects. A valid Class B CDL with air brakes and at least one year of experience operating small/medium equipment are required.

You will perform preventive maintenance, assist with repairs, and support temporary traffic control and crew reporting.

Qualifications

• Requires one year of experience operating small/medium equipment and vehicles.
• Valid Class B CDL with air brakes is required at hire.
• Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of equipment including front end loaders, graders, and sign assembly trucks.
• Performs routine maintenance and assists in repairs of equipment.
• Supports temporary traffic control and prepares crew activity reports.
• Performs tree trimming, carpentry and masonry tasks as needed.
• Works outdoors in varying weather, in traffic and on different terrains.
