Job summary

DeKalb County's Watershed Management division is hiring a trained equipment operator. The role drives and operates heavy trucks and construction equipment to support maintenance, utility work, and infrastructure projects across county property and rights-of-way.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, and at least two years of experience operating heavy trucks or off-road equipment; some positions may require additional licenses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; two years of experience in the operation of heavy trucks and/or off-road construction equipment or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Responsibilities

• Operates various equipment and vehicles to complete maintenance, upkeep, and construction tasks across county grounds and rights-of-way.
• Drives roll-off containers, secures loads, and dumps material at designated locations.
• Operates bobcat, backhoe, tractors with mowing systems, and other machinery for land and utility projects.
• Prepares equipment for safe operation, performs routine maintenance, and ensures safety of the crew and public.
