Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; three years of experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment.
• Two years of experience operating off-road equipment or related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maneuvers heavy equipment and operates complex mechanisms for digging, grading, loading, and related tasks on County roads and infrastructure.
• Operates excavator, track hoe, backhoe for maintenance and construction with attention to tolerances and utility line avoidance.
• Operates loader types to move materials and load trucks; controls weight to avoid exceeding equipment capacity.
• Performs pre-shift inspections, light maintenance, and cleans vehicles after assignments.
• Transports, loads, and unloads equipment and materials at sites; monitors traffic and safety around the site.
• Completes forms and communicates with supervisor and team to coordinate activities.
