Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Component Qualification Engineer to join the Nuclear Power Group. The role involves applying environmental qualification methods for 10CFR 50.49 equipment and collaborating across disciplines to deliver engineered solutions.

Responsibilities include calculations, vendor report review, specification development, and support for EQ inquiries, with occasional travel to client sites for design reviews and field verification.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years in component environmental qualification in nuclear plants.
• Knowledge of nuclear plant equipment functionality and failure modes.
• Familiarity with NRC IE Notices, Bulletins, Generics.
• Familiarity with 10 CFR Part 50.49, Regulatory Guides, IEEE 323 and other IEEE standards.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Good written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of component qualification engineers and interface with other disciplines.
• Prepare and review calculations and vendor qualification reports.
• Develop specifications and revise client design basis documents.
• Support EQ-related client inquiries and field questions.
• Perform Environmental Qualification life assessments using Arrhenius method.
• Review Maintenance and Surveillance requirements and postulated accident effects on equipment.
• Travel to client/vendor offices as needed for design reviews and site coordination.
