Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a senior component qualification engineer to lead environmental qualification activities for nuclear power plants. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, review calculations, vendor reports, and support EQ inquiries while guiding junior engineers.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 10+ years in EQ, knowledge of 10 CFR 50.49 and IEEE standards, with occasional travel to client sites or vendors. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering with emphasis in Electrical or Mechanical from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience in component environmental qualification in the nuclear power plant industry.
• Knowledge of nuclear power plant equipment functionality, materials of construction, failure modes, etc.
• Familiarity with NRC IE Notices, Bulletins, Generic Letters.
• Familiarity with 10 CFR Part 50.49, Part 21, Regulatory Guides, NUREG and EPRI documents, IEEE 323/383/334/317 and other IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead component environmental qualification activities for nuclear projects.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and guide junior project members.
• Prepare and review calculations and qualification reports; develop specifications.
• Support EQ inquiries from clients and coordinate testing and anomalies.
