Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior Component Environmental Qualification engineer to lead EQ activities for nuclear plant license renewals and upgrades. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, guide junior engineers, and ensure compliant qualification documentation across projects.

You will apply your 10CFR 50.49 knowledge, review vendor reports, and develop specifications. This role requires extensive experience and effective communication in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering with ABET accreditation.
• 10+ years of experience in component environmental qualification in the nuclear industry.
• Knowledge of nuclear plant equipment, materials, and failure modes.
• Familiarity with NRC IE Notices, Bulletins, and Generic Letters.
• Familiarity with 10CFR Part 50.49, Part 21 and IEEE standards for EQ.
• Proficient with MS Office and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of component environmental qualification for 10CFR 50.49 equipment.
• Prepare and review calculations; review vendor qualification reports.
• Develop specifications; revise client design basis documents; support EQ inquiries.
• Perform EQ life assessments using Arrhenius method and update related docs.
• Conduct linear regression to determine activation energies; coordinate EQ testing.
• Review maintenance/surveillance requirements and assess EPU/accident effects.
