Job summary

ECS Group of Companies, a national environmental consulting firm, seeks an Environmental Senior Project Manager to lead complex wetlands and natural resources projects from proposal through closeout. You will mentor staff, manage budgets, and maintain client relationships while ensuring safe and profitable project delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, deep regulatory knowledge, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5 years of related experience.
• Bachelor's and/or Master's of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting.
• Must have the ability to obtain a local license through reciprocity within three months of hire date
• Extensive knowledge of environmental principles, regulations, and consulting practices
• Extensive knowledge of permitting requirements and environmental investigation methodologies
• Excellent project management and consulting skills
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities
• Strong financial management and budgeting skills
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
• Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to review and evaluate technical work produced by others
• Strong business development and client growth capabilities
• If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required

Responsibilities

• Directs wetlands and natural resources projects
• Oversees staffing, logistics, and field execution
• Reviews technical reports and project deliverables
• Leads client communications and project discussions
• Oversees Project Managers and Staff PMs throughout project execution
• Ensures consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance across projects
• Leads and mentors junior staff and supports professional development across the team
• Manages environmental consulting projects from proposal through project closeout
• Serves as the primary client contact for assigned projects
• Maintains and expands client relationships and business opportunities
• Manages project budgets, profitability, invoicing, and collections
• Reviews and approves project change orders and budgeting adjustments
• Schedules, trains, and oversees technical staff assigned to projects
• Coordinates project staffing and resource allocation
• Oversees multiple projects simultaneously and ensures successful project execution
• Reviews and approves proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates
• Prepares and reviews environmental reports, analyses, and recommendations
• Conducts senior-level reviews of project deliverables before Principal review
• Leads client meetings and project discussions
• Supports staffing decisions in collaboration with department leadership
• Provides guidance on technical, operational, and project management issues
• Performs additional project leadership and technical duties as assigned
