ECS Group of Companies seeks a Senior Project Manager for its Natural Resources Environmental team in Central Florida. You will oversee projects from proposal to final invoice, coordinating with clients and staff to ensure timely, compliant delivery.

This role requires leadership, a strong client focus, and deep knowledge of environmental permitting. Ideal candidates hold a relevant environmental degree and 8+ years of complex permitting experience, with regulatory acumen and mentoring ability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Marine biology, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing complex environmental permitting.
  • Strong understanding of environmental permitting processes and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage natural resources projects from proposal through completion.
  • Prepare scopes of work, fee proposals, schedules, technical reports, and permit applications.
  • Manage project budgets, invoicing, and project performance.
  • Serve as a primary client contact and support agency coordination efforts.
  • Mentor junior staff and support technical team development.
  • Direct project set up and implementation with junior staff; ensure staff are trained and assigned.
  • Perform site visits as required on the project.
  • Lead client meetings to present findings and conclusions.

Job description

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support our Natural Resources Environmental team in Central Florida. This role is responsible to ensure that all required tasks on a project from proposal to final invoice payment are completed either by themselves or by subordinates. The Senior Project Manager is primarily responsible for the completion and overall success of the project. Senior Project Manager will act as the main point of contact for the client on their projects. The ideal candidate presents a positive customer service attitude and understanding of ECS Core Values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage natural resources projects from proposal through completion.
  • Prepare scopes of work, fee proposals, schedules, technical reports, and permit applications.
  • Manage project budgets, invoicing, and project performance.
  • Serve as a primary client contact and support agency coordination efforts.
  • The Senior Project Manager will mentor junior staff and support technical team development.
  • Direct project set up and implementation with junior staff. Ensure that appropriately trained and experienced staff are assigned. Communicate with junior staff to direct field work.
  • Perform site visits as required on the project.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local wetlands regulations and guidelines and their implications on findings and conclusions in studies.
  • Independently prepare reports to be reviewed by a Principal. Review reports that are completed by subordinates prior to Principal review. Lead client meetings and or calls to present/discuss report findings and conclusions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Marine biology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting.
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience for Senior Project Manager with experience managing complex environmental permitting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Professional Arborist, Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred, AAUS Certified Scientific Diver following guidelines in EM 385-1-1
Preferred Skills And Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental principles and applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of permitting processes, environmental regulations, and environmental test methods
  • Extensive ability to manage and develop new clients. Seek out opportunities to develop relationships with clients.
  • Review and provide feedback of field and laboratory testing by others. Perform training and/or corrective action as necessary.
  • Excellent ability to manage and develop new clients
  • Experience delegating/assigning projects and tasks to other staff while also managing other projects independently.
  • USFWS and NOAA coordination
  • USACE permitting experience including 404 permitting
  • FDEP permitting including CCCL permitting
  • Water Management District Permitting experience
  • FWC coordination
  • Existing Central Florida agency and client relationships
  • Assessment of benthic and aquatic vegetation
  • Protected species monitoring
