Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to join our New England Planning and Advisory Services Team. You will lead NEPA projects and prepare environmental studies for transportation initiatives while coordinating with municipalities, agencies, and clients.

The role requires 5–7 years in environmental planning, strong regulatory knowledge, and proficiency in GIS and technical writing. Collaboration across teams and occasional travel are expected in this Boston/New England context.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
  • 5–7 years in environmental planning, surveys, fieldwork, and permitting.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with environmental laws and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience leading reports, EIS/EA, and environmental permit applications or licensing.
  • Coordination with clients, agencies, and staff throughout projects.
  • Proficiency with NEPA processes and state equivalents; QA/QC adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead NEPA projects (CE, EA, EIS) and prepare planning studies and NEPA documents.
  • Conduct planning studies for multimodal transportation projects for diverse clients.
  • Develop pre-NEPA and feasibility studies for environmental projects.
  • Lead data collection, research, and technical analyses.
  • Utilize GIS for data analysis and map production; support public outreach.
