Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in environmental planning, completing environmental surveys, fieldwork, habitat and construction support, impact assessments, and permitting.
  • Highly proficient analytical skills, including experience with research techniques/assessment methodologies.
  • Expertise with environmental laws, permitting requirements, notification and compliance practices, and regulatory framework.
  • Experience leading and reviewing environmental planning technical reports, environmental impact evaluations, siting reports, and permit applications including field surveys and reporting.
  • Established experience coordinating with clients, regulatory permitting and resource agencies, and environmental staff.
  • Well-developed expertise with NEPA and state equivalent compliance processes and documentation.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS, MS Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, and related tools.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills for all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and lead junior team members with QA/QC.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as task lead or project manager for NEPA projects (CE, EA and EIS).
  • Prepare planning studies, technical reports, and NEPA documents for federal/state transportation projects.
  • Conduct planning studies, corridor studies, and subarea planning studies for multimodal transportation projects.
  • Prepare pre-NEPA, feasibility and supporting studies for environmental planning projects.
  • Lead data collection, research, documentation, and analyses.
  • Use GIS for data analysis and map generation related to planning studies.
  • Assist with public outreach and stakeholder involvement.
  • Support business development and client relationship management with transit agencies, cities, MPOs, and DOTs.
  • Prepare scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFPs.
  • Collaborate with team to meet objectives and ensure QA/QC.
