Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Regulatory Specialist to provide task management and technical leadership on environmental permitting and NEPA projects in Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic. You will lead regulatory strategy, coordinate with agencies, review technical reports, and ensure compliance across phases of projects with a focus on safety, quality, and ethics. The role requires extensive regulatory experience and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Studies, Policy, Planning, Geology, or related discipline preferred.
• 10-15 years of experience specific to regulatory practice in the environmental field.
• Knowledge of state & federal laws & regulations and applicable policies & procedures to advise others on interpretations & experiences with permitting, and NEPA documentation.

Responsibilities

• Developing and executing environmental permitting strategy and regulatory strategy for a variety of projects and clients.
• Directing permit applications for federal and state actions, including NEPA-related documents and various environmental permits.
• Leading NEPA compliance strategy and documentation for federal and state projects.
• Directing the development of technical reports for federal and state agencies and coordinating agency consultations.
• Coordinating site work such as wetland delineations, water determinations, habitat assessments, and related data collection.
• Performing QA/QC reviews and coordinating environmental compliance monitoring and record keeping.
• Partnering on integrated environmental/engineering teams to ensure consistent project execution.
• Supporting HSSE policies and coordinating with HSSE professionals during project planning and execution.
