Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Regulatory Specialist to provide technical leadership on Environmental Services projects in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic. The role supports utilities, transmission, and siting activities, coordinating with agencies and internal teams.

The successful candidate will manage permit applications, lead field surveys, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, with opportunities for travel and collaboration across disciplines."

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Maryland state and US federal laws and regulations related to environmental permitting.
• Hands-on experience managing environmental permitting applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including technical writing and agency negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Execute environmental permitting strategies and regulatory planning for diverse projects.
• Lead environmental field surveys (wetland, forest stand, critical area) and mentor junior staff.
• Prepare permit applications (Section 404/401, Joint Permit) and coordinate comment responses with agencies.
