Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Data Management Discipline Leader to advance the firm’s environmental data management capabilities. This national role focuses on establishing scalable workflows, data validation, and analytics across ESG programs.

The leader will direct EQuIS-based initiatives, governance, and validation strategies, partnering with GIS, analytics, and project teams to elevate data quality and defensible decision-making for client projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Preferred Qualifications: 12+ years of experience in environmental data management, environmental consulting, lab data workflows, data validation, database management, or environmental project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience with EQuIS or comparable platforms, including database setup, EDD management, data loading, reporting, QA/QC, and validation workflows.
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor staff across projects and offices.

Responsibilities

• Provide national leadership for environmental data management across ESG programs, including strategy, standards, workflows, training, and technical support.
• Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, SOPs, templates, and guidance for environmental data management.
• Lead EQuIS-based data management, including database strategy, consolidation, and data loading.
• Design defensible data validation and QA/QC workflows, including use of EQuIS tools and third-party validation.
• Support project startup to ensure data management requirements are built into scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Coordinate with analytics, GIS, and IT teams to connect validated data to dashboards and reporting workflows.
• Advance field data collection tools and automated workflows for real-time data availability.
• Oversee development of discipline IP, templates, and training materials.
• Mentor staff and build capability across projects and offices.
• Support proposals, client discussions, and business development related to data management and analytics.
• Travel 20–40% as required.
