Job summary

Sound Transit seeks a Senior Environmental Specialist – Operations Compliance in Seattle to lead environmental compliance support for the Operations division. The role blends office work with field activities, including ~30–50% travel and regular site inspections, with about two days per week of remote work.

Responsibilities include hazardous materials management, stormwater compliance, waste handling, and guiding facilities staff on regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and compliance practices.
• Understanding of facility operations and how they relate to environmental compliance.
• Ability to prepare reports and analyze data.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own interdisciplinary procedures controlling environmental risk at facilities.
• Conduct field-based environmental compliance inspections at transit facilities.
• Support stormwater, hazardous waste, and environmental compliance programs.
• Assist with spill response and regulatory inspections.
• Provide technical guidance to operations and facilities staff.
