Job summary

Zurich North America seeks an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director – Environmental Casualty Underwriter to join our Specialties Environmental underwriting team. The role handles complex Environmental Casualty accounts and acts as a SME within the team, building relationships with Select Brokers in the South US and supporting referrals and growth opportunities.

The position offers either Executive Underwriter or AVP level with pay bands and bonus opportunities depending on

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing area
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support area
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing area
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support area
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
Experience working in a team environment
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing area
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing area
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support area
Experience with Microsoft Office
Technical knowledge of Environmental Casualty Underwriting
Established broker relationships in Western region
Sales execution mindset
Creative problem solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules.
Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business related needs.
May provide guidance to lower level associates.
Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition and works with customers and distributors to determine their insurance related needs.
Supports the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers.
Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities
Qualify accounts to meet with the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
Make broker/customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose
