Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director – Environmental Casualty Underwriter to join the Specialties Environmental underwriting team. This role may be based in any Zurich Western region office with remote candidates considered at the hiring manager's discretion.

The role handles complex environmental casualty accounts, serves as a subject matter expert, and collaborates with brokers focused in the South US.

Qualifications

• Experience handling complex environmental casualty underwriting or related areas.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting rules, laws, and rating practices.
• MBA or professional designations are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Administer underwriting rules and guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with business leaders on referrals and needs.
• Provide guidance to lower level associates as needed.
• Build relationships with distributors to support retention and growth.
• Support sales culture by assisting agents, brokers, and customers.
• Pursue renewal and new account opportunities proactively.
• Conduct detailed opportunity assessments with distributors.
• Qualify accounts to fit appetite and opportunity.
• Make broker and customer calls with clear purpose and preparation.
