Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director – Environmental Casualty Underwriter to join our Specialties Environmental underwriting team. The role offers flexibility to be based in any Western office with remote candidates considered at the hiring manager’s discretion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of underwriting or market-facing experience.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of claims or underwriting support experience.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years in underwriting or market-facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12+ years in claims or underwriting support area.
• Microsoft Office experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and rating rules.
• Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business needs.
• May provide guidance to lower level associates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support retention and acquisition.
• Support the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet appetite and opportunities.
• Make broker/customer on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
