Job summary

Zurich North America seeks an experienced Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director – Environmental Casualty Underwriter to join our Specialties Environmental underwriting team. The role may be based in any Zurich office in the Western region, with remote candidates considered at the hiring manager's discretion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred for advanced leadership roles.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required with substantial experience.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer underwriting rules, guidelines, and regulations.
• Develop and maintain referrals with brokers and distributors.
• Provide guidance to lower level associates when needed.
• Build relationships with distributors to support retention and growth.
• Support sales culture by assisting agents, brokers, and customers.
• Seek renewal and new account opportunities proactively.
• Complete opportunity assessments with distributors to identify growth.
• Qualify accounts to fit appetite and opportunity balance.
• Make broker/customer calls with a planned purpose.
