Job summary

IBM in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Application Packaging Engineer to own the end-to-end packaging lifecycle for enterprise Windows applications in a federal environment.

You will build silent installers (MSI/MST/MSIX), collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure scalable, reliable deployments across thousands of endpoints while maintaining high quality and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience building silent MSI/MST/MSIX packages and testing on Windows 11.
• 1+ years IT system administration experience.
• PowerShell and/or CMD scripting proficiency.
• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance for VA.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Create silent installers in MSI/MSIX formats and verify via initial Windows 11 testing.
• Gather packaging requirements from internal customers and translate into scalable solutions.
• Lead end-to-end packaging: source validation, build, test, deploy, support.
• Troubleshoot packaging issues using ProcMon, MSI logs, and Windows Event Logs.
• Modify Windows Registry as part of packaging workflows.
• Peer review packages to ensure quality and standards.
• Ensure prerequisites and standards are accounted for in every solution.
