Job summary

State Street seeks a Corporate Functions Lead Software Engineer – VP III to design, build, and modernize strategic technology across HR, Legal, Audit, Compliance, Risk, Realty, and other corporate domains.

The role combines deep hands-on engineering with technical leadership, guiding solution design, code reviews, and delivery of enterprise-scale applications and data platforms, including Databricks and cloud-native architectures.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• 8+ years developing enterprise solutions using Java technologies.
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations.
• Proven experience leading development efforts for large-scale enterprise platforms.
• Strong hands-on development and problem solving; architecture design.
• Experience guiding technical teams without direct management authority.
• Strong lifecycle, DevOps, testing, and release management knowledge.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Define technical roadmaps and engineering approaches for strategic initiatives.
• Lead design and development of enterprise-grade applications and APIs.
• Drive modernization to API-first, cloud-native architectures.
• Establish engineering standards, patterns, and best practices.
