Job summary

Notion is seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel to lead and support enterprise SaaS transactions across the Americas, with emphasis on AI and privacy compliance. You’ll coach account teams, shape playbooks, and craft sophisticated agreements, collaborating with product and security teams.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the California State Bar, New York State Bar, or Registered In-House Counsel in good standing.
• 10+ years of combined experience practicing as a commercial attorney within a law firm or software technology company.
• 2+ years in-house experience at a SaaS and/or AI technology company.
• Privacy and artificial intelligence subject matter expertise, including GDPR, e-Privacy Directive, CCPA, and EU AI Act.
• Experience driving commercial transactions, SaaS, and enterprise B2B transactions.
• Strong negotiation and drafting skills with ability to explain nuanced legal concepts.

Responsibilities

• Have broad responsibility for negotiating SaaS AI agreements and providing practical day-to-day commercial legal support - primarily in the Americas region - for the sales, marketing, channels, and customer success teams with a focus on supporting the Enterprise segment
• Collaborate with Product Legal team on product and operational items that impact customer agreements and go-to-market initiatives
• Draft and negotiate complex agreements regarding privacy, security, and AI regulatory matters
• Identify and independently pursue process improvements for buy-side supporting motions
• Develop and revise contract templates and playbooks as necessary, based on changes in our product offerings, organization, and law
