Job summary

Circle is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Risk and Compliance Engineering team. You will own the centralized customer onboarding and lifecycle platform, shaping onboarding, verification, and compliance across Circle’s products and jurisdictions.

You will mentor senior engineers, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with Product, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, and Engineering partners to deliver secure, scalable systems and efficient customer experiences.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Strong background in scalable distributed systems and backend platforms.
• Experience guiding architectural decisions and delivering reliable systems.
• Experience in risk, compliance, or fintech is a plus.
• Excellent collaboration across Product, Risk, Compliance and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the engineering team for Circle's centralized onboarding and lifecycle platform.
• Drive scalable onboarding automation from initial engagement to activation across products.
• Design a unified customer lifecycle platform managing changes over time.
• Guide development of APIs and partner-facing SDKs for onboarding in third-party apps.
• Build onboarding capabilities for eligibility, verification, and jurisdictional compliance.
• Develop internal tools in collaboration with Product, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, and Engineering teams.
• Oversee architecture, reliability, security, and operational excellence while coaching senior engineers.
