Job summary

Vetcove is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact team of software engineers with a strong emphasis on people leadership, mentorship, and engineer growth. You will guide projects from conception to completion across the technology stack, with responsibilities spanning architecture discussions, hiring, and career development.

You will work closely with the CTO, product leaders, and cross-functional partners to maintain high technical standards, scalability, and reliability

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a fast-moving technical environment
• Interest in people management, coaching, feedback, and engineer growth
• Ability to design systems with scalability, security, reliability, and performance in mind

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers with a strong focus on people development, team health, and career growth
• Support engineers through regular coaching, feedback, goal setting, and career development conversations
• Create clarity for the team around priorities, ownership, and successful outcomes
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to define priorities and drive execution
• Support projects from early planning through implementation and long-term maintenance
• Stay close to the technical work and help evaluate tradeoffs
• Assist with code reviews and provide technical feedback
• Help unblock engineers by connecting people and clarifying priorities
• Contribute to design of new ideas and product enhancements
• Drive architectural improvements prioritizing scalability and reliability
• Promote quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with CTO and cross-functional partners to evolve products and foundation
• Support hiring, onboarding, mentorship, and performance feedback
• Foster a collaborative, low-ego, high-ownership remote culture
